Isuru Travels to Ethiopia!

Graduate student Isuru recently took a trip to visit our collaborators at Jigjiga University. While there, Isuru worked with collaborators and learned how to collect larvae and adult mosquitoes! He also gave a talk at Jigjiga University about phylogenetic analysis.

Liz Presents as a Keynote Speaker for Girl Scout's STEMFest

The Carter Lab, Pitts Lab and Sim Lab go to the Texas6VectorMix
Members of the Carter Lab, the Pitts Lab, and the Sim Lab traveled to Texas A&M for the biennial Texas6VectorMix Conference where students and Professors can present their research. Isuru gave an oral presentation and Elizabeth presented a poster with undergraduate Avery.
Isuru and Liz passed their candidacy exams, and are now PhD Candidates!

Isuru Gunarathna and Elizabeth Waymire entered the Carter Lab this spring semester. Isuru is interested in using bioinformatics to investigate parasite-mosquito interactions. Elizabeth is interested in using molecular genetics to explore disease control and host-virus/parasite interactions.
